The Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) at GM needs to lead complex, cross-functional automation and robotics programs to drive innovation in manufacturing systems and deliver cutting-edge automation solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering programs in automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira) and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements traceability, interface management, and validation planning.
- Experience managing technical trade-offs across hardware/software systems and coordinating with engineering leads.
- Skilled in risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution across complex technical programs.
- Proven success managing highly technical, cross-functional programs involving robotics platforms, automation cells, or material handling systems.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as SysML, Cameo, or IBM Rhapsody.
Responsibilities
- Lead automation and robotics initiatives from concept through deployment, managing scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, issue trackers, and risk registers to ensure program success.
- Coordinate across hardware, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Facilitate technical reviews, escalation processes, and cross-functional workshops to resolve issues and maintain alignment.
- Collaborate with leadership and business units to align near-term execution with long-term strategic goals.
- Track program KPIs and provide regular updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Support vendor engagement, contract execution, and integration of external technologies into GM systems.

- This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to the designated location a minimum of three days per week.
- The primary work location will be Warren, MI.
