SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital is looking for an intern to provide ultrasound services to patients within the student scope of practice.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in Sonography program
- open to 2nd year students in general ultrasound/sonography
Responsibilities
- Prepares and positions patients and selects exposure factors under direct and indirect supervision.
- Follows safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
- Prepares for and assists the supervising technologists and physicians in a variety of ultrasound procedures that may include pelvic, abdominal, small parts and/or routine vascular examinations.
- May perform more complex imaging such as deep Doppler and guided interventional procedures such as biopsies and ablations as well as musculoskeletal ultrasound.
- Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Records the images and relays a clinical impression as indicated.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms and any other areas in department.

- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
- Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
