Southwire Company LLC is looking to develop innovative systems and solutions to improve grid resiliency, enhance grid technologies, and promote grid electrification, and is seeking an intern to contribute to research and development initiatives in these areas.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Microgrids, Energy Storage, Renewables, Energy Management, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), Hydrogen, HVDC Systems, and DC Microgrids
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proactive and adaptable with a willingness to learn
- Familiarity with research initiatives and project executions
- Experience with technology partners and stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research and development initiatives focused on advanced grid technologies
- Explore innovative solutions that disrupt Grid Resiliency, Grid Enhancing Technologies, and Grid Electrification focus areas
- Support ongoing efforts with research initiatives, project executions, and engaging with key stakeholders as well as technology partners
- Develop a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo
- Collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational leaders
- Impact the future of the organization through exposure to a world-class program community
- Present work and research findings to senior leadership and other stakeholders
Other
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher
- Ability to commit to a 10-12 week internship or 16-18 week co-op assignment
- Willingness to participate in an immersive onboarding and offboarding experience, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and community service/volunteer initiatives
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others
