Nationwide is looking for a Software Engineer to lead application development and design responsibilities in support of the Annuity Broker Dealer projects on the Mainframe platform, and to drive business results through innovation and adoption of new technologies.
Requirements
- Mainframe (COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO, UAC, Changeman, IBM Debugger, Fault Analyzer)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working and troubleshooting in large cobol codebases
- Familiarity with APIs, microservices, distributed platforms
- Agile / Scrum experience
- Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript
- Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
- Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
- Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
- Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
- Crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications.
- Analyzing, coding, configuring, testing, debugging, documenting and maintaining applications.
- Lead application development and design responsibilities in support of the Annuity Broker Dealer projects on the Mainframe platform.
Other
- Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree.
- Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment.
- Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
