The company is seeking a Splunk, Linux and VMware Systems Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and manage their Splunk infrastructure, standardize forwarder deployment, and troubleshoot issues. They also need someone to engineer solutions for complex issues, provide technical direction, and manage the continuous enhancement of the systems infrastructure to meet business requirements.
Requirements
- Splunk (version 6+)
- Red Hat Linux
- VMWare
- AIX 5.3 through 7.1
- HP-UX 11.x operating systems
- UNIX performance tools such as sar, top, nmon, vmstat, iostat, etc along with other performance and monitoring tools
- Networking/Routing, firewalls, load balancer technologies, and other network concepts and appliances.
Responsibilities
- Splunk cluster design, development, integration and management.
- Design, support and maintain the Splunk infrastructure in a highly available configuration
- Standardize Splunk forwarder deployment, configuration and maintenance across a variety of UNIX and Windows platforms.
- Troubleshoot Splunk server and forwarder problems and issues.
- Assist internal users of Splunk in designing and maintaining production-quality dashboards.
- Monitor the Splunk infrastructure for capacity planning and optimization
- Design core scripts to automate Splunk maintenance and alerting tasks.
Other
- Individual must possess excellent working knowledge of Splunk (version 6+), Red Hat Linux and VMWare.
- Seeking individual with 3-5+ years working directly with Splunk, Red Hat Linux and VMWare technologies as their primary job focus.
- Mentor and train Splunk users and administrators
- Participate as an escalation point for 24x7 operations support for Splunk.
- Detail oriented and experience working in a production environment using Change Control practices, creating and working under technical project plans and timelines.
