Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Junior Intern Technical or Senior Intern Technical to join their team of qualified, diverse individuals to work on various information technology projects, including security, simulation, training, enterprise-level IT solutions and products, information systems and services, and engineering.
Requirements
- Knowledge of specific equipment and technologies is desired, but not required
- Experience with software engineering, information security, project management, networking, telecommunications, and program management is a plus
- Familiarity with enterprise-level IT solutions and products, information systems and services, and engineering is desirable
- Basic understanding of computer systems, networks, and software applications
- Familiarity with programming languages, such as Java, Python, or C++
- Experience with database management systems, such as MySQL or Oracle
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices
Responsibilities
- Become part of Newport News Shipbuilding's Information Technology Division
- Rotate to areas within the information technology field each semester, including Software Engineering, Information Security, Project Management, Networking, Telecommunications, and the Program Management Office
- Work on various information technology projects, including security, simulation, training, enterprise-level IT solutions and products, information systems and services, and engineering
- Collaborate with a diverse and innovative team of professionals, including skilled trades, project managers, engineers, software developers, solution architects, technical subject matter experts, and system users
- Contribute to the design, build, and refuel of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines
- Participate in a premier CoOp college intern program that provides opportunities to gain diverse experience in the information technology field
- Work up to 20 hours a week as part of the Information Technology Division
