VetsEZ is seeking a remote SQL Developer / Data Analyst to support a federal healthcare program with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) involving data analysis, report development, and support for ongoing data migration, integration, and quality monitoring efforts.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing advanced SQL queries and working with large, complex datasets in SQL Server environments.
- Experience analyzing healthcare or clinical data, including familiarity with data formats such as HL7, FHIR, or VistA.
- Strong understanding of data structures, indexing, performance tuning, and normalization techniques.
- Experience creating data visualizations and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
- Experience supporting VA data systems, including VX130, Millennium, or the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW).
- Familiarity with IRIS or Caché database environments and mirrored data architectures.
- Exposure to Agile environments and tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries and scripts to support data validation, data extracts, and transformation logic across large clinical datasets.
- Analyze and interpret data from multiple systems to support business intelligence reporting, extract validation, and decision-making.
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and program stakeholders to understand data flows, transformation logic, and source-to-target mappings.
- Support the development and refinement of conceptual and physical data models used in federal healthcare data warehouses.
- Create and maintain data quality monitoring routines and reports used to track completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of data migration efforts.
- Document findings from exploratory data analysis, track anomalies, and support root-cause investigations with development and QA teams.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of technical and user documentation, including data dictionaries, runbooks, and validation protocols.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- Ability to obtain Federal Government clearance.
- Must reside within the continental US.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
