The Navy needs database management platforms, and the company is looking for an SQL Server Systems Engineer to manage, build, and develop these platforms.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining a Windows Server environment, including servers hosting Microsoft SQL Server 2017, 2019, or 2022 in instances and clusters
- 5+ years of experience managing enterprise reporting platforms such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI Report Server, including report deployment, security administration, performance tuning, and service configuration
- Experience leveraging PowerShell and scripting languages to automate server builds, SQL installations, security patching, configuration management, and daily operational tasks to improve efficiency and system reliability
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, clustering, backups, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and meet RTO/RPO objectives for critical business systems
- Experience with cloud-based systems
- CASP+ or CISSP Certification
- DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II Certification, such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP Certification
Responsibilities
- Install and configure Microsoft SQL Server instances including on-premises, cloud, or hybrid.
- Plan and implement SQL Server upgrades, patches, and service packs.
- Set up SQL Server in clustered and high-availability environments such as Always On, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, or Mirroring.
- Monitor SQL Server performance such as CPU, memory, and I/O.
- Perform vulnerability scans and remediate database-related security issues.
- Design and manage backup strategies such as full, differential, transaction log.
- Implement and test disaster recovery plans.

- HS diploma or GED
- Ability to obtain a DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II Certification within 30 days of hire date
- Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, or Engineering
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other enterprise technologists
