The State of New York is looking to solve tactical business problems through effective database design and development.
Requirements
- Ability to evaluate existing data models/sources/objects and provide guidance and direction to improve business and clinical outcomes.
- Estimates, writes, and tests complex program logic.
- Provides tuning improvements to optimize database designs, queries, views, functions, stored procedures and other data sources and database objects.
- Experience with relational databases and curating reusable data sources.
- Strong proficiency in database development or engineering
- Experience in a health care environment is preferred
- Ability to work with front-end and middle tier programmers
Responsibilities
- Works on and leads a team of database designers and programmers, working with front-end and middle tier programmers in fulfilling data requirement needs.
- Determines and clearly defines problems then communicate the recommendations / solutions to team members.
- Works closely with the end users and report/dashboard developers to understand their business requirements and procures data sources for tactical business problem solving.
- Acts as a consultant in the areas of conceptual and physical database design, development, implementation and maintenance.
- Provides end-user assistance, involving analysis, identification of problem or needs, designing solutions and identifying required system adaptations.
- Performs periodic system maintenance and upgrade activities that would include occasional night/weekend work.
- Integrates effective database designs with project developers.
Other
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or similar disciplines and 6 years experience, or associates degree and 8 years relevant experience in database development or engineering.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work occasional night/weekend work for system maintenance and upgrade activities.
- M-F 8-5 work schedule
