Pacific Life is looking to modernize its underwriting workflow by using machine learning and AI to transform the underwriting process.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
- Experience using LLMs to build agentic workflows
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of data-driven models and algorithms to enhance the underwriting process.
- Use AI to process unstructured medical data and incorporate it into our models
- Automate processes using LLMs and agentic frameworks
- Analyze large and complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support decision-making.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data science and machine learning.
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists and analysts.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise reports and presentations.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, actuarial, and technology, to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist in the life/health insurance industry.
- Knowledge of life insurance underwriting processes and regulations is a strong plus.
