Staples is business to business. The data scientist will use statistical modeling to make predictions about future outcomes and in multiple scenarios. They interpret and apply data in analyses, and explain findings to business audiences typically, to improve products and processes.
Requirements
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python, with good familiarity in big data frameworks and platforms such as PySpark, Apache Spark, Databricks and Snowflake.
- Expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
- Programming proficiency (Python, R or similar languages).
- 7+ years of progressively complex related experience in the tools and practice of data science, including statistical modeling, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Advanced knowledge in a specialized field of data science, such as Deep learning, Large language Models or Natural language processing.
Responsibilities
- Mines and analyzes complex and unstructured data sets using advanced statistical, machine learning and artificial intelligence methods methods for use in data driven decision making.
- Performs research, analysis, and modeling on organizational data.
- Develops and applies algorithms or models to key business metrics with the goal of improving operations or answering business questions.
- Applies analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design and analysis and data mining.
- Develops complex algorithms and statistical predictive models and determines analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes.
- Develops materials to explain project findings.
- Provides guidance regarding analytical approach and iteration of algorithms.
