Databricks is looking for a Developer Advocate to educate, inspire, and support the growing user base of Apache Iceberg, and to foster a thriving community around the technology.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a software developer and subject matter knowledge of solving data engineering problems at all scales.
- Experience with Scala, Python, and SQL.
- Experience with Rust and Golang is preferred.
- Leadership experience in the Apache Iceberg communities.
- Experience working with and contributing to open source communities.
- Experience managing, operationalizing, and engaging with developer communities.
- Experience with creating educational resources such as videos, sample notebooks, tutorials, and blog posts.
Responsibilities
- Evangelize and broaden awareness of Apache Iceberg as a powerful lakehouse format for analytics datasets.
- Support and expand the Apache Iceberg community, including meetups and user groups.
- Foster enthusiasm for Apache Iceberg by leveraging creativity and innovation to create engaging experiences and content.
- Enable data engineers to excel in building their data infrastructure with Apache Iceberg.
- Empower data engineers to reach their objectives and share their success stories efficiently.
- Create high-quality educational resources such as videos, sample notebooks, tutorials, and blog posts.
- Advocate for the needs and desires of the Apache Iceberg community within Databricks.

- Empathy and understanding of developer personas.
- Ability to apply empathy to the design and development of good experiences in tutorials, notebooks, communities, and more.
- 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
- Local Pay Range $115,400—$204,200 USD
