Hims & Hers is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to deliver systems, processes, and platform solutions to meet business needs for the customer platform and operations, ensuring systems are robust, scalable, and flexible for the growing business.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or other OOP languages and web frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting and scaling applications with a focus on performance, maintainability, and user experience
  • Strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects with measurable business impact
  • Deep E-commerce/Subscription experience (Catalog, Payments, Orders, Subscriptions, etc.)
  • Experience with backend systems
  • Strong background in development
  • Experience with Agile, Lean, and DevOps best practices

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop multiple teams of engineers and/or managers within the Customer Platform (focused on Subscription), fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture
  • Coach and mentor engineering teams in Agile, Lean, and DevOps best practices, instilling a culture of iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and shared ownership
  • Define technical strategy and execution plans aligned with business goals, focusing on innovation, reliability, scalability, and quality of our platform
  • Scale the architecture and systems with long-term growth and performance in mind, anticipating technical trends and integrating emerging best practices, with a strong focus on evolutionary architecture to ensure adaptability and continuous improvement
  • Design and implement process improvements, enhancing productivity and delivery velocity
  • Champion engineering standards and ensure robust assurance practices in a modern, agile environment
  • Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and other cross-functional partners to influence product roadmaps and customer-centric solutions

Other

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degrees or equivalent experience a plus)
  • 10+ years of experience in development, with a strong background in backend systems
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, with a track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills—able to translate strategy into clear execution plans
  • Passionate about talent development, fostering inclusive teams, and creating growth paths for engineering leaders
