T-Mobile is looking for Senior Software Engineers to design, implement, and deploy software that meets customer requirements, scales easily, removes limitations of traditional networking solutions, and supports deployment in highly available environments, specifically focusing on their Big Data observability platform, Splunk.

Requirements

  • Managing Big Data observability platforms (Splunk, Syslog-ng) to perform the Splunk administration in a multi-site environment, including data onboarding, indexer clustering, search head clustering, and index replication configuration for managing hundreds of Terabytes of daily data.
  • Working with the Big Data platform Splunk to derive machine data analytics using their Processing Language (SPL) and need experience in developing search queries, reports, and dashboards for reporting, monitoring analytics.
  • Working with UNIX/Linux system administration skills, with the ability to troubleshoot OS-level issues. Understanding networking protocols, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Using computer networking principles at a WAN scale, with the ability to troubleshoot TCP/IP protocol issues of the Bigdata Observability platforms (Splunk, Syslog-ng) and automation platforms such as Ansible to enable day-to-day operations using automation workflows.
  • Developing operational deployment frameworks for automation using Automation tools Puppet and Ansible.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the architecture and design of various software components focused on creating applications that leverage technologies such as virtualization, microservices, SDN, NFV, and Big Data platforms and technologies.
  • Work on technical assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
  • Analyze and tune the Splunk application and server to optimally use the system resources.
  • Perform deployments of Splunk configurations to support data onboarding and other maintenance/upgrade activities.
  • Implement both off-the-shelf and custom monitoring solutions to proactively and quickly detect issues affecting the Splunk platform and user experience.
  • Work with the Automation Team to leverage their solutions for managing multiple Splunk deployments.
  • Partner with other internal teams to understand their logging requirements and how Splunk can solve their use cases.

  • Telecommuting is permitted, but the applicant must work from the worksite location at least 3-4 days per week.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers on the team.
  • Participate in compliance audits (SOX, CPNI, PCI).
