PRIME AE is looking to hire a Sr. GIS Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and management of enterprise-level geospatial data infrastructure, leveraging expertise in data engineering and GIS to build and optimize complex spatial data pipelines, turning raw location-based information into actionable insights and supporting mapping and analytics across the organization.
Requirements
- Expertise with GIS platforms, including the Esri suite (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) or open-source alternatives (QGIS, PostGIS).
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes for integrating spatial and non-spatial datasets.
- Experience with cloud-based geospatial data environments, such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
- Strong understanding of geospatial data management principles, including coordinate systems, projections, and metadata.
- Experience with Federal contracts and data security requirements preferred.
- Experience with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable geospatial data architectures and processing pipelines.
- Develop and manage enterprise geodatabases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency for spatial data storage and retrieval.
- Design and execute advanced spatial analytics, geoprocessing, and modeling functions to derive actionable insights from geospatial data.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to integrate diverse spatial datasets from various sources, including CADD, satellite imagery, GPS, and surveys.
- Write and maintain scripts using Python and other languages to automate workflows, ETL processes, and GIS functions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior GIS and data engineering staff, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and security for all geospatial datasets and processes.
Other
- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a significant focus on geospatial data systems.
- US Citizenship required, due to the projects associated with this position.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker preferred.
