The Healthcare AI organization in AWS is seeking a Sr. Manager of Applied Science to lead science and data teams working on innovative AI-powered healthcare solutions to improve patient care, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver exceptional value to customers.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
- 7+ years in applied research, with 3+ years of people management experience
- Track record of leading successful research projects and delivering business impact
- Strong publication record in top-tier conferences/journals (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, etc.)
- Experience managing technical teams in computer vision, ML, or AI
- Experience in designing and implementing healthcare AI systems
- Demonstrated experience in AI agent architecture design, including decision-making frameworks and behavioral modeling
Responsibilities
- Building and mentoring teams of Applied Scientists, ML Engineers, and Medical Clinicians
- Setting technical direction and research strategy aligned with business goals
- Driving innovation in medical administration reasoning systems, AI agent design, and medical coding
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate research into production
- Managing project portfolios and resource allocation
