CVS Health is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple Scrum teams responsible for the development, maintenance, and modernization of our core mainframe-based applications.
Requirements
- Experience leading teams in a mainframe environment (e.g., COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL)
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and enterprise software delivery
- Proven ability to manage multiple teams and deliver complex projects
- Experience with modernization efforts is a strong plus
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage 3–5 Scrum teams (15–30 engineers) working on mission-critical mainframe applications
- Provide coaching, performance management, and career development for Engineering Managers and senior ICs
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and QA to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
- Drive continuous improvement in agile practices, DevOps adoption, and engineering excellence
- Partner with architecture and infrastructure teams to support modernization initiatives
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, and cross-team coordination
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration
Other
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in engineering management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Batchelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or equivalent experience.
