Scout Motors is looking to revolutionize the all-electric truck and SUV marketplace by developing digital solutions for their customers and business partners, including order management, customer management, marketing, production, inventory and planning optimization, loyalty, merchandise, servicing and repairs, mobile app, and vehicle connectivity.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building distributed systems, APIs, Data pipelines, active-active cloud infrastructure, and devops practices using technologies such as GoLang, gRPC, AWS services, SQL, and no-SQL databases, event streaming, Redis, Kubernetes, terraform, and more.
- Providing technical leadership and direction for back-end platform, infrastructure, and services development, with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
- Knowledge of security best practices, potential system vulnerabilities, and how to prevent them.
- Experience operating in start-up settings, launching 0 to 1 product, and scaling it to 100.
- Experience as a technical lead for large projects (12+ months in length), including defining the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions.
- Experience building data and AI strategy and pipeline.
- Experience building systems in the auto industry.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional and cross-organization partners (product, design, IT, marketing, vehicle connectivity, etc) to define and execute digital engineering strategy.
- Lead engineers & technical leaders to deliver interoperable core services and systems - including Identity, Accounts, Payments, Notification, Audit, Data and AI, and more – on a robust core infrastructure and platform supporting customer interactions inside and outside of the vehicle.
- Assess and recommend key tools, technology, and build/buy/partner decisions aligned with today’s needs, and future enterprise requirements.
- Foster a strong engineering culture by defining processes, policies, and practices that enables scalable, functional, and reliable software products.
- Develop and lead team to execute against both short-term and long-term goals for the team, prioritize roadmap and lead the team to execute.
- Scope and lead large, complex technical projects while ensuring iterative delivery and long-term system reliability.
- Build champion teams by hiring the best, calibrating teams and developing career plans for the team members.
Other
- This role will be based remotely within the United States or in Fremont, California.
- The responsibilities of this role require 1 day per week attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
