Tempur Sealy is looking to solve the problem of developing, evaluating, and modifying new product designs to support customer and product requirements, while ensuring designs efficiently utilize quality and cost-effective materials and account for production capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Uses technical knowledge to create product specifications, ensure product meets specifications and customer requirements, including stack up and design rules, EHS safety guidelines, component and cover specifications, design and aesthetics.
- Validate and determine all component and prototype specifications; develop bill of materials, including raw materials and time requirements.
- Perform DFMEAs, component and prototype trials, durability and functionality testing, EHS testing, to ensure product meets the full range of requirements; troubleshoot and resolve issues as required to ensure product meets testing requirements.
- Perform pilot testing to determine the validity of the design through the manufacturing process, report-out and design review and product validation.
- Support new production processes and launches to ensure product is manufactured according to design, safety, and quality specifications.
- Assists in NPD initiatives, communicates with NPD team and other resources as required to support product development initiatives and rollout. Provides design and technical expertise as needed.
- Actively participates in technical product development teams dedicated to ensuring the product is meeting the organization's key metrics for performance, margin, and consumer and retailer satisfaction.
Other
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Textile, or Industrial Engineering (or other related Engineering discipline)
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering or operations organization delivering and maintaining consumer products
- Impressive analytical abilities as well as the enthusiasm to push forward in difficult situations
- Flexibility to seek & incorporate input from others
- Ability to adapt and manage effectively in fast-paced and continuously changing environment
- Regular travel is not expected in this position; however, travel around scheduled projects such as program rollouts may be necessary
