Orion180 is looking to transform risk management and underwriting strategies by leveraging data science and predictive analytics. The Senior Predictive Modeling Scientist will lead the development of advanced models to drive business decisions and innovation.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost, Tensorflow etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps frameworks.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in statistics, data science, and actuarial science.
  • Experience in predictive modeling, preferably in the insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial principles and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reproducible data pipelines for predictive modeling.
  • Design and implement models using classical and machine learning time series methods.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and data analytics teams to deploy models into production.
  • Build intuitive dashboards and visualizations to communicate model insights.
  • Ensure model governance, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in predictive modeling.

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.

  • While performing general duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, comprehending, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or squat down to open/close cabinets, and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.
