Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Engineer Systems to support the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, which provides an essential operational platform for U.S. military leadership to plan, monitor, and manage ballistic missile defense operations.

Requirements

  • Requirements elicitation, derivation, and decomposition to lower-level subsystems and components
  • Maintenance of system and component baselines in a requirement management system
  • Defining the relationships between internal and external components, communicating system-level use cases to a diverse group of customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
  • Skills generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities
  • Skills in logical architecture modeling and/or interface definition, along with knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security accreditation, are highly desirable
  • Experience with Agile Methods, and Capability and Feature definition is a significant advantage
  • Ability to be part of an integrated Systems Engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining the physical, functional, and technical requirements needed to define the desired capabilities of an evolving MDS Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system

Responsibilities

  • develop use cases and prepare systems engineering artifacts to implement customer-requested capabilities
  • Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), architectural documentation, system engineering estimates, and author and conduct both formal and informal engineering reviews
  • Work under general direction, with results reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives
  • frequent internal and external customer interactions and representing the organization in providing solutions to complex technical issues related to specific projects
  • reviewing the content and details of technical products and acting as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts as needed
  • be part of an integrated Systems Engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining the physical, functional, and technical requirements needed to define the desired capabilities of an evolving MDS Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system
  • mission analysis, including skills in developing cases and sequence diagrams
