HP Hood is looking for a subject matter expert to design and implement complex projects focused on new products, processes, ingredients, and continuous improvement. The role also involves coaching junior R&D members and staying ahead of emerging technologies and industry innovations to create new opportunities and anticipate future trends.
Requirements
- Deep technical knowledge of food science, sensory science, and/or data analysis.
- Deep understanding of emerging technologies and segment specific and industry innovation to help create new opportunities
- Complete understanding of a technical segment of products and the relationship with Customer and Consumer needs.
- Extensive knowledge of products, formula, and ingredients.
- Capacity to use and teach statistical analysis, Design of Experiment, and Statistical Process Control.
- Demonstrative ability to use root cause analysis tools.
- Knows the competition and is aware of how strategies and tactics work in the business; can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex projects focused on new products, processes, ingredients and continuous improvement.
- Develop new products to meet consumer needs; research product acceptance with consumer.
- Proactively maintain existing products through new suppliers, alternate ingredients, and process improvement.
- Author comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures, Ingredient Specifications, Formulas, Semi Finished Good Specifications.
- Serve as subject matter expert for an area (segment) of expertise.
- Coach junior R&D members to foster professional growth.
- Teach knowledge associated with statistical analysis, Design of Experiment, and Statistical Process Control.

- Serve as subject matter expert for area of expertise/segment.
- Influence and collaborate cross-functionally to drive the Customer to Concept process to bring new products to market.
- Collaborate within R&D and with cross functional partners.
- 7+ years of food Industry experience
- Travel required as needed for business; communicate with supervisor when not manageable.
