Xerox needs to ensure its products are safe and compliant with global regulations, requiring expertise in product safety testing, design review, and certification processes to keep products available in the global market.
Requirements
- electrical or mechanical engineering degree, or equivalent experience
- at least 4 years of technical experience in the Product Safety field and/or with Lexmark products combined
- some familiarity with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001
- In-depth knowledge of product safety standards and Hazard Based Safety Engineering with a systematic analysis capability
- Basic knowledge of physics, physiology, and engineering
- Experience in safety evaluation of manufacturing deviations
- Experience in field safety incident including root cause analysis
Responsibilities
- Review product design to ensure compliance with global industry and corporate safety requirements
- Provide Product Safety testing and report submission to safety agencies (such as UL) as part of Corporate Product Safety Group
- Review schematics diagrams for compliance with safety standards and design practices
- Review mechanical designs for proper use of flame-retarded plastics, sharp edges, fire enclosures, proper grounding, power supply/AC adapter design
- Duties may include research, evaluation, development, and application of new processes and methods into new products to ensure compliance with safety requirements
- Work with development engineering teams to develop new products which comply with global safety agency test standards (UL, CSA, CE Mark)
- Keep products safe, certified and available to Lexmark’s addressable global market

- Understudy to the Product Safety Technical Leader and begin to assist in that role immediately
- Work collaboratively in a team/cross-functional environment
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with strong knowledge base of printer technology and the sciences
- Four or more years’ experience in product development, technology development, program management and/or product safety, specifically with Office printers
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
