PlayStation's Game Development & Future Technology (GDFT) group is transforming our console DNA into a low-latency cloud platform, streaming immersive worlds to every screen from TVs, handhelds, and devices we haven't invented yet.
Requirements
- Proven experience in low-level kernel development, including configuring and modifying kernel options to support advanced debugging and optimizing system performance.
- Extensive experience with the C programming language.
- Hands-on experience developing drivers for multifunction PCIe devices.
- Proficient in testing PCIe device drivers to ensure reliability and performance.
- Experience with automating kernel-level testing workflows and validation.
- Familiarity with contributing to upstream kernel development processes.
- Detective-level debugging skills.
Responsibilities
- Design & write software for Linux servers, kernels, and drivers.
- Troubleshoot performance and reliability issues at a global scale.
- Forecast & communicate estimates, risks, and dependencies to technical and project leads.
- Champion innovation within the team to inspire creative solutions to problems.
- Collaborate in a small Agile team; planning, reviewing, and demoing each sprint.
Other
- BS in Computer Science / Software Engineering, or 5+ years of professional software experience.
- Excitement for open-ended problems, turning fuzzy ideas into solutions.
- Curiosity on emerging tech, including AI dev tools and introducing those that are pragmatic and boost developer velocity.
- Experience with Rust and/or Python for systems programming and tooling.
- You take ownership of problems and feel empowered to fix them.
- You spot gaps, draft solutions, and rally teammates without waiting for detailed specs.
- You stay calm when priorities change (they will), communicate trade-offs, and keep momentum.
- Thrive in fast iterative cycles with quick reviews that drive continuous improvement and progress.
- Proven track record scaling services to millions of users.
- Familiarity with Git best practices.
- Knowledge of Japanese language and culture is a plus.
