At Boeing, the business problem is to develop next-generation ground systems for Space Mission Systems, requiring a strong technical leader to manage a team of software engineers and contribute to the design and development of state-of-the-art ground systems software solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with software development for space systems and ground segments performing command, control, mission planning and data processing
  • 5+ years of experience as the technical leader of a software development or product deployment team
  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment, configuration management, security analysis and cloud computing, preferably using AWS Cloud
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R, Python, Matlab, Java, C, or C++, with strong skills in object-oriented design, development, and microservices architecture
  • Experience using collaboration tools such as GitLab or Atlassian
  • Familiar with Cloud Native Computing Foundation technologies, including Kubernetes, microservices, containers, and orchestration platforms
  • Deep understanding of satellite ground software systems, aerospace systems, real-time applications, and their specific requirements (e.g., high availability, low-latency processing, fault tolerance)

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software engineers and contribute to the design and development of state-of-the-art ground systems software solutions for complex, real-time, mission-critical systems.
  • Oversee software design, development, integration, testing, and deployment using tools like GitLab, Jira, and CI/CD best practices
  • Provide technical oversight throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and security standards
  • Oversee software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities, ensuring mitigation actions are integrated and deployed throughout the software lifecycle
  • Monitor and review software integration and testing (SWIT) completion, verification processes, and resolution of software issues
  • Ensure software peer and code reviews, design reviews, and technical exchanges are aligned with project plans and industry standards
  • Perform hiring and staffing to meet project demands

  • U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance and program access prior to start
  • Approximately 10% travel required
