Pinterest needs to scale its core revenue-generating systems, specifically the ad serving platform, to handle 10X growth in campaign management, ad delivery, and machine learning platforms, while enabling rapid feature development for internal developers and external advertisers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience with Ads or Search Infrastructure and distributed systems
• Hands on experience in solving complex scaling, latency, or low-level system performance problems in high-volume online serving systems
• Proficiency in at least one of the system languages (C++, Java, Python)
• Knowledge of industry best practices and trends, and use it to form a long-term plan to the team
• Experience solving end-user problems and envisioning solutions to improve their productivity

Responsibilities

• defining and executing the technical strategy for scaling and modernizing our ad serving infrastructure
• rearchitecting and refining the infrastructure to achieve greater scalability, freshness and performance handling billions of ads repository and millions of QPS
• lead the collaboration with ML, product, infra and other partner teams to evaluate the infra requests and make fund decisions
• be the tech lead of 10-20 engineers and directly influence their day to day work through mentorship and leadership
• build a high throughput, low latency, ad serving system which empowers Pinterest ads business
• build the team roadmap and leverage state-of-the-art serving infrastructure to efficiently and effectively serve ads to Pinterest users across all surfaces
• Passion for building ads serving stack visibility and solving Ops / customer painpoints

Other

• 8+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer and technical leader leading multiple projects
• Rich experience in working cross functionally to drive alignment, oversee execution and secure deliverables
• Experience in mentoring, guiding and upleveling junior engineers
• This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration [1 time per week] and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices San Francisco, Seattle, Palo Alto, NYC.
