The Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) Systems Engineering organization needs to transform engineering processes and tools to enable rapid development of complex systems efficiently with development assurance, leveraging advanced tools, AI, and a digital thread to create an advanced engineering ecosystem.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in defining processes consistent with ARP4754.
- Deep experience in the design, development, manufacture, and test of gas turbine engines or similarly complex electro-mechanical aerospace systems in a regulatory framework.
- Experience in process development and application of new processes to large and complex aerospace development programs in an ARP4754 compliant environment.
- Strong understanding of development assurance processes, their specific meaning, intent, and background.
- Strong background in requirements-based engineering and configuration management of requirements data.
- Understanding of certification regulations, guidance, and typical qualification expectations.
- Strong knowledge of available engineering tools, their capabilities, and methods.
Responsibilities
- Working cross-functionally across engineering, lead the definition of the E&PS standard systems engineering processes consistent with ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-326, DoD instructions, and other regulatory guidance.
- Transform E&PS processes to eliminate documents, implement MBSE, and implement the digital thread.
- Define tool solutions to enable more advanced processes focused on data rather than documents, implement MBSE, automate error checking, enforce configuration management, and automate certification/qualification document generation.
- Enable the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into work processes and tools.
- Work with the systems engineering architecture and tools team to build and implement tool solutions.
- Author work instructions and training to the E&PS organization.
- Mentor and train team members in process implementation.
Other
- Minimum 10 years directly related engineering experience in the design, development, manufacture, and/or test of gas turbine engines or similarly complex electro-mechanical aerospace systems.
- Relationships and experience participating in industry guidance authoring committees is highly valued.
- Ability to address the intersection of organizational and human behavior with process definition to minimize development errors while avoiding undue process burden.
- Proven change agent. Demonstrated capability to drive organizational change and encourage adoption at a rapid pace.
- Ability to work collaboratively cross-functionally with large and complex teams to define solutions.
