Humana is seeking a Senior Product Owner to lead the definition and evolution of AI capabilities within their Enterprise Unified API Catalog, aiming to enhance API discoverability, usability, and automation to support broader digital and healthcare transformation goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical HANDS-ON experience.
  • Proven experience in technical product ownership with a focus on AI, APIs, and developer platforms.
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies and their application in enhancing API products and developer experiences.
  • Familiarity with API design principles, including REST, GraphQL, authentication mechanisms, and contract management.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and driving alignment across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, or recommendation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the strategic roadmap for integrating AI into Humana’s Unified API Catalog, focusing on intelligent metadata enrichment, contextual API recommendations, and developer enablement.
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and data science teams to translate business needs into clear, actionable product requirements for AI-powered API capabilities.
  • Apply design thinking and a customer-first mindset to ensure AI features are intuitive, valuable, and aligned with developer workflows.
  • Partner with internal product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to gather use cases, validate requirements, and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in AI and API technologies to influence Humana’s internal strategy and ensure adoption of modern frameworks and standards.
  • Promote the value of AI-enhanced APIs across the organization, driving adoption and consistency in how APIs are designed, documented, and consumed.
  • Ensure APIs are accessible and usable by external developers, including those without deep domain expertise, through intelligent tooling and contextual guidance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant work experience in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ideal candidate will reside in or near the DC Baltimore, MD or Louisville, KY areas.
  • Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
