Requirements
- Experience with email protocols (IMAP, SMTP, Exchange), calendar standards (CalDAV, CardDAV), and contact synchronization systems
- Knowledge of data privacy, security, and encryption as applied to personal information management
- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG, VoiceOver) and inclusive design practices for organizational applications
- Familiarity with user research methodologies specific to communication and productivity workflows
- Experience with performance optimization for applications handling large datasets and real-time updates
- Understanding of cross-platform synchronization challenges and solutions
- Deep expertise in both web technologies (React, TypeScript, modern CSS) and native client development (iOS/macOS, Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit)
Responsibilities
- Lead engineers who are product innovators first-identifying user struggles in email management, calendar workflows, and contact organization, then proposing and building solutions that directly impact product roadmaps
- Build new interaction paradigms for leading information overload, improving cross-platform synchronization, and enabling magnificent collaboration while ensuring experiences feel native and performant across iOS, macOS, and web platforms
- Bring engineering perspective to early-stage discussions about the future of personal information management, influence feature prioritization based on technical possibilities, and drive innovation initiatives that span multiple product cycles
- Encourage a culture where engineers actively contribute to the product's strategy while building solutions that handle the scale and reliability requirements of serving hundreds of millions of users worldwide
- Balance leadership application thinking with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring that Apple's messaging and productivity suite continues to set the standard for intuitive, powerful personal information management across all platforms
- Drive feature innovation for some of Apple's most crucial and frequently used experiences
- Collaborate as equal partners with Design and Product teams to envision, prototype, and build communication and productivity experiences that push the boundaries of what's possible
Other
- 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a consistent track record of driving product innovation in consumer-facing applications
- 5+ years of validated engineering management experience leading teams that actively shape feature strategy for messaging or efficiency tools
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent communication skills with ability to influence solution direction through technical expertise
- Experience presenting technical concepts and strategic recommendations to executive leadership
