Motorola Solutions is looking to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its world-class user experiences to enhance critical communications, video security, and command center technologies, aiming to lead the industry through AI-powered innovation and keep people safer.
Requirements
- AI Literacy: A strong understanding of core Artificial Intelligence concepts, including Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI – their capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations.
- Minimum 8 years of UX, CX, Interaction Design, Product Design) OR User Research (Qualitative/Quantitative methodologies).
- A portfolio showcasing your process, skills, and impact. Please highlight any projects or thinking related to AI if available.
- Holistic AI Experience Evaluation: Assessing the overall AI user experience, including perceived intelligence, usefulness, reliability, and how errors, uncertainty, failures, and edge cases are managed and communicated.
- AI-Augmented Research Methodologies: Leveraging AI tools for qualitative data analysis (e.g., thematic analysis of interviews, open-ended surveys), sentiment analysis, or identifying patterns in large user datasets.
- Advanced AI Testing Methodologies: Employing specialized user testing techniques for AI (e.g., "Wizard of Oz," comparative AI model testing, longitudinal studies) and continuously adopting emerging research practices.
- Researching User Perceptions & Trust in AI: Designing studies to understand how users perceive, interact with, and trust AI systems.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI (ML, NLP, generative AI) to solve user problems and create novel, delightful experiences.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate AI capabilities into tangible user benefits and design requirements.
- Design and/or research user interactions with AI-powered features and systems, ensuring they are intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy.
- Contribute to the development of best practices, ethical guidelines, and design patterns for Human-AI interaction within our organization.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and their potential applications in experience design and research.
- Effectively communicate research findings, design concepts, and AI possibilities to diverse audiences.
- Crafting intuitive and engaging interactions for AI-powered systems (e.g., conversational UIs, recommendation engines, generative content tools).

- Must include portfolio, personal website, or work samples demonstrating user-centered research experience to be considered for the position.
- Adapt to rapidly shifting priorities and contribute to an agile, fast-paced innovation environment.
- Champion a user-centered approach in the development and application of AI technologies.
- Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience.
- Candidate must be in the Chicago or Plantation office 2 times per week.
