Mochi Health is building a platform to solve the discovery layer of healthcare, making it easier for patients to find the right providers, access medications, and manage their health with transparency and trust. The company is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to build the next generation of their pharmacy software platform, focusing on scalable, reliable backend systems that power critical pharmacy workflows and set new standards for pharmacy operations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend development experience, with deep expertise in Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript) and modern backend frameworks.
- Proven experience architecting and deploying distributed systems in production at scale.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Skilled in building products end to end, from design to deployment, and improving maintainability and performance in large codebases.
- Experience with healthcare software, pharmacy systems, or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with real-time messaging, inventory and fulfillment systems, or enterprise SaaS platforms.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimization of backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that power pharmacy operations at scale.
- Architect and manage systems supporting high webhook traffic, third-party integrations, real-time scheduling, provider and patient management, and compliance workflows.
- Drive best practices in performance, security, observability, and scalability as we rapidly expand pharmacy operations.
- Ensure system reliability and resilience in distributed environments, with a focus on patient safety and operational efficiency.
- Own key architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and set backend engineering standards across the company.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, and Pharmacy Operations teams to build seamless workflows that meet complex healthcare needs.
- Influence engineering culture, fostering technical ownership and innovation within the team.
