Northrop Grumman is looking for a Staff Data Scientist to join their Model Based Test & Evaluation (MBTE) system to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come.

Requirements

  • Experience developing mathematical models of dynamic systems from first principles.
  • Knowledge and experience with System Identification techniques using statistical methods to validate dynamic system models with test data.
  • Experience performing parametric and non-parametric system identification.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and/or post-processing experimental test data.
  • Knowledge and experience performing model uncertainty analysis, error modelling, and/or error propagation.
  • Fluent with Python or Matlab.
  • Hands-on experience with Modern C++ within an Agile environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute a Digital Engineering strategy that will be used to validate software and hardware modifications using the Digital Twin to perform test regression and airworthiness verification testing using these models.
  • Implement the modeling and analytical roadmap. Execute the test campaign for lab, ground, and flight test.
  • Must be proactive and solve problems to demonstrate virtual, high-fidelity, multi-level vehicle performance.
  • Interact frequently with Program Management, external suppliers, and/or government customers.
  • Apply technical expertise in solving complex integration problems.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of experience in engineering; OR Master of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 10 years of experience in engineering; OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 8 years of experience in engineering.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD secret clearance & Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.
