Travelers is looking to solve key business problems by using advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to build complex models, particularly in commercial auto pricing innovation.
Requirements
- Prior experience in commercial auto insurance, pricing, or related analytics is highly valued.
- Subject matter expertise in modeling/ research/ analytics or actuarial required
- Subject matter expertise in value creation and business model concepts
- Subject matter expertise in multiple statistical software programs
- Ability to develop highly complex models, interpret model results and recommend adjustments
- Expertise in advanced statistics underlying data models
- Subject matter expertise in 3-5 of the following: Regression, Classification, Machine Vision, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning and Statistical modeling.
Responsibilities
- Lead Commercial Auto Pricing Innovation: Spearhead technical projects involving the design, development, and enhancement of commercial auto pricing and benchmark models across all business units.
- Provide Technical Leadership: Mentor junior data scientists and manage fluid talent allocation on project-based initiatives within the commercial auto domain.
- Serve as Commercial Auto Data Subject Matter Expert: Partner closely with Data Engineering and External Data Evaluation & Acquisition teams to drive data strategy and optimization.
- Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Analytics & Research colleagues, Actuarial Product, Auto Product, Underwriting, and IT teams to ensure seamless model implementation through knowledge transfer, scenario testing, and rigorous code peer review processes.
- Champion Best Practices: Lead the development and adoption of industry-leading practices in AI/Machine Learning, statistical methodologies, and coding standards, with particular emphasis on pricing applications.
- Establish a practice/process of sharing expertise with the community through discussions, presentations, or peer reviews.
- Guide technical strategy of teams through own technical expertise.
Other
- Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Decision Sciences, Actuarial Science or related analytical STEM field plus five years of experience or any suitable and equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Heavy concentration in mathematics, including statistics and programming, business intelligence/analytics, as well as data science tools and research using large data sets.
