The AI Products team is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to help shape the future of generative AI applications for Home Services partners, including those in the utilities and telecommunications sectors.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated software engineering proficiency, including Python, Git, code reviews, test-driven development (TDD), and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, MLflow), applied to building robust, production-ready ML and LLM applications using best practices like modular code, version control, and data validation (e.g., Pydantic).
  • Demonstrated ability to architect and deploy modular, production-ready data science solutions.
  • Proficiency with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph and LangSmith, and experience working with APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar.
  • Familiarity with AWS ML/deployment stack (ECS, S3, Cloudwatch, etc.) for scalable model serving and monitoring of similar cloud stack.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, MLflow, Spark) for end-to-end data processing, feature engineering, and model experimentation.
  • Strong understanding of LLM architectures and theory (Transformers, attention mechanisms, pre-training/fine-tuning methods).
  • Familiarity with traditional ML techniques (e.g., classification, regression) and how they complement generative AI applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and implement generative AI solutions using large language models (LLMs) that can be applied across partner use cases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, and other data scientists—to build and scale reusable AI capabilities.
  • Build and maintain automated workflows for deploying and monitoring AI systems using modern MLOps or LLMOps tools.
  • Contribute to the development of internal libraries and tooling that improve productivity and reusability across AI projects.
  • Participate in model evaluation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and experimentation with LLM pipelines.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate traditional ML techniques when appropriate, and ensure a strong data science foundation is present in AI applications.

Other

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists; foster a culture of learning and excellence within the team.
  • Demonstrated history of collaborating cross-functionally to scope, design, and implement complex AI/ML solutions, with a strong track record of influencing product direction and delivering high-impact, production-ready systems.
  • Comfortable working in collaborative environments and contributing to shared team goals.
  • Master's Degree + 6 years of experience OR PhD + 4 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or even better, Master's Degree in Math, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or other relevant degrees.
