  • Experience with product lifecycle tools (Jira, Confluence, PLM systems).
  • Familiarity with UL 9540, IEEE 1547, NEC, NFPA 855, and other energy codes.
  • Background in systems engineering, field applications engineering, or firmware/hardware development with transition into product strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to ship complex hardware + software systems from concept through production.
  • Comfortable working across hardware, firmware, and software domains.
  • Strong technical foundation paired with a product management mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision for Generac’s next-generation residential energy storage platform, grounded in customer needs, market dynamics, and technical innovation.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year product roadmap, aligning with business strategy, engineering capabilities, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Convert input from customers, installers, and grid operators into clear product requirements (MRDs, PRDs), use cases, and value propositions.
  • Partner with hardware, firmware, software, UX, regulatory, and operations teams to deliver solutions from concept through launch.
  • Collaborate with industrial design and mechanical engineering to ensure products are high-performing, manufacturable, and aesthetically appealing.
  • Drive requirements around inverter-battery integration, communications, power classes, and enclosure design.
  • Weigh platform scalability, cost, reliability, compliance (UL 9540/1741/9540A, NEC), and supply chain flexibility to guide decision-making.

Other

  • 5+ years of product management or closely related experience, ideally with 1–3 years in energy storage, solar, or power electronics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA.
  • Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers or ODMs on platform development.
  • Knowledge of U.S. residential energy markets, DER aggregation, or VPP programs.
