Steer is looking to expand its portfolio of technical solutions for the auto repair industry by developing new products. The company aims to provide a comprehensive CRM marketing suite and scheduling software to help auto repair shops operate more efficiently and profitably.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional development experience in a web-based SaaS role.
  • Deep understanding and RESTful APIs and n-tier web applications.
  • Proven experience with at least one major back-end language and framework (e.g., C/.Net, Node.js/Express, Python/Django/Flask, Ruby on Rails).
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with their core services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Azure App Services).
  • Proficiency with a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and its ecosystem.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing scalable and maintainable architecture
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis). Ability to design efficient schemas, inspect and optimize ORM generated queries, and manage data migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the frontend architectural vision and strategy for Steer’s products.
  • Champion best practices in code quality, test automation (unit, integration, E2E), security, and maintainability.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Champion scalable and reusable frontend components and libraries that bridge between the design system and customer experience.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues across the full stack, often in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Engage with our CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to ensure seamless deployments and operational efficiency.
  • Embody a “you build it, you own it” mindset across the stack, always seeking to understand new aspects of the system.

Other

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and mentor other engineers.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Previous experience in a lead or mentoring role.
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes).
