Apple is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to contribute to the development of the next generation of cloud services infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing and implementing key components of the iCloud platform, integrating novel fundamental capabilities deeply into the core of Apple’s operating systems. Your work will enable the creation of entirely new applications and the scaling of existing ones, including FaceTime, Push Notifications, iCloud Drive, Photos, and Backup.

Requirements

  • strong programming skills in Swift and/or Objective-C
  • Experience building on Apple Platforms (macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS, etc.)
  • Experience working with and building system-level frameworks and APIs
  • Experience working with client-server architectures and network protocols in a distributed system
  • Experience with Swift concurrency
  • Experience with security, privacy, and cryptography concepts
  • Experience with event-based programming and/or inter-process communication is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with adopters to craft clear APIs
  • Work with the network and file system stacks to build performant system daemons
  • Work with our server counterparts to design scalable features and protocols
  • Implement core components of the cryptographic protection of cloud data
  • designing and implementing key components of the iCloud platform
  • integrating novel fundamental capabilities deeply into the core of Apple’s operating systems
  • constructing complex systems that can seamlessly recover from errors

Other

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • Proven track record of working on rapid development cycles and shipping software on tight schedules
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to build relationships in highly cross-functional environments
  • Bachelor's degree, or above, in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience
