Nokia's Delivery and Operations Optics Manufacturing Team needs a Product Engineer to ensure new optical product designs are cost-effective and manufacturable in high-volume production, manage products through the manufacturing line, improve processes, and report on yield and WIP.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of active and passive optical components and modules.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment, control, data acquisition, and testing automation.
- Experience with products utilizing embedded processors, Ethernet/PCIe switches, FPGAs, DSPs, and power sequencing.
- Able to understand designs sufficiently to troubleshoot and debug root causes.
- Proficient with statistical analysis.
- Requires a strong understanding of change controls and process flow.
- Experience with MES systems like SAP.
Responsibilities
- responsible for new product introduction of optical systems into production by working closely with development, operations, and CM teams.
- Review design specifications and ensure designs (optical, electrical, and mechanical) are cost-effective, manufacturable, and are of high quality.
- Drive qualifications of new product components.
- Review product test plans, methodology, specifications, and MFG process flow.
- Implement ECOs based on design or product changes.
- Partner with process engineers and contract manufacturers for yield and process improvements.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for field/production failures as needed.
Other
- BSEE/Physics, advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of direct experience with complex, high-speed optical systems, preferably in the communications industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- analytic, detail-oriented, possesses strong quantitative analysis skills, is self-motivated, able to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, and works well in a fast-paced environment
