IonQ is looking to develop highly differentiated quantum solutions that will bring value to society using their trapped-ion quantum computers.
Requirements
- World-class expertise in FTQC algorithms that can scale to millions of qubits, billions of gates with line-of-sight to end-customer value
- Mastery of key mathematical techniques used in quantum computing
- Demonstrated expertise in Python and Qiskit or similar quantum SDK
- Working knowledge of C++
- Experience with hybrid computing e.g. CPU + GPU + QPU, Edge, Cloud, etc
- Knowledge of CI/CD
- Experience with benchmarking metrics and tools
Responsibilities
- Lead-by-doing hands-on development of fault-tolerant quantum algorithms that will make a large scientific and commercial impact across a wide range of industry verticals
- Drive constructive technical interactions across multi-disciplinary teams to identify, define and solve challenging real-world problems using IonQ trapped-ion quantum computers
- Develop portfolio of foundational IP and high-impact-factor peer-reviewed publications
- Represent IonQ externally with customer/clients and at conferences
- Propose, win, and execute on consultative (paid) contracts
- Commercialize end-to-end software utilizing hybrid computing e.g. CPU + GPU + QPU, Edge, Cloud, etc
- Develop core IP, computational resource models, long-term roadmaps and end-to-end workflows
Other
- 8+ years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Doctorate degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or another STEM domain, or equivalent work experience plus 3+ years of professional work experience in the quantum computing field solving the toughest challenges for society
- 10% domestic and international travel
- Must be a US person for export controls and government contracts work and/or obtain necessary license/confirming the availability of a license exception under U.S. export controls
