ServiceNow is looking to enhance its AI Search capabilities by building a consumer-grade search engine that integrates traditional information retrieval with cutting-edge GenAI technologies to power conversational AI experiences.
Requirements
- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
- 8+ years of experience with Java or a similar OO language
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations
- Passion for JavaScript and the Web as a platform, reusability, and componentization
- Experience with any of the modern UI frameworks like Angular, React or Vue
- Analytical and design skills
- Design software that is simple to use to allow customers to extend and customize the functionality to meet their specific needs
Responsibilities
- Drive high-impact initiatives that enhance the company’s search and GenAI capabilities.
- Architect, design, and implement advanced text search solutions that deliver high scalability, precision, and relevance.
- Develop and integrate state-of-the-art search technologies - from keyword and vector-based retrieval to knowledge graphs, ranking models, and generative AI-enhanced search pipelines.
- Build robust, modular, and extensible tools, frameworks, and libraries that form the foundation of our search platform.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to evolve architecture and best practices, while mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
- Deliver intuitive and powerful search experiences that delight both customers and developers.
- Build high-quality, clean, scalable and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes (Code Reviews, Unit testing, etc.).

- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
