Tonal is looking for a Staff Android Software Engineer to build the embedded application that powers their intelligent personal trainer, solving complex challenges in software creation for consumer and enterprise fitness products and elevating engineering capabilities.
Requirements
- Proficient in design principles, patterns and best practices for Android based applications
- Extensive experience in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose with backend services integration
- Working knowledge of data analytics and logging tools such as Sentry, Amplitude, or OpenSearch
- Strong understanding of source control management, CI/CD workflow, and build/release processes
- Experience in hardware-software integration, computer visions and AI-based applications
- Familiarity with Apple Health and/or Google Health Connect platforms
Responsibilities
- Lead the development/technical direction of complex features powered by intelligence, personalization, and computer vision
- Identify initiatives on technology trends/continuous improvement to uplevel the team, and define/implement solutions through mentoring and training
- Work on cross-platform engineering challenges and ensure the quality of software architecture & design of systems
- Troubleshoot/triage customer issues and perform root cause analysis to identify improvement opportunities
- Collaborate in design & planning and participate in scrum ceremonies to ensure successful execution of product deliverables
- Help build a quality-driven engineering culture that ships products rapidly and with confidence
- Coordinate with onshore/offshore teams to streamline the development/testing activities

- 7+ years of software development experience
- High attention to detail, both in code and UI/UX with a creative approach to problem-solving
- Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization
- Passion for fitness, wellness, or health-tech industries
