Google is looking to hire a Software Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership for major projects, manage a team of engineers, optimize code, contribute to product strategy, and develop their team. The role involves managing engineers across multiple teams and locations, overseeing a large product budget, and deploying large-scale projects internationally, specifically within the Android ecosystem which powers over 3 billion devices worldwide.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience with Android application development.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 5 years of experience in low level systems programming languages (e.g., C++ or C).
- Experience working with operating systems, computer architecture, embedded systems and Linux/Unix kernel, etc.
- Experience coding in Rust.
- Experience with System Software in any of the following areas - ARM/ARM64 architecture, compilers, firmware, Operating systems, Linux kernel, file systems/storage, device drivers, performance tuning, networking, tools, tests, virtualization, platform libraries, etc.
Responsibilities
- Work on core system components including Memory Management, Scheduling, Power, Storage, Virtualization, Networking.
- Create and ship Generic Kernel Image for billions of devices.
- Scale development across a growing number of verticals (e.g., Wear, Auto, TV, large screen, etc.)
- Contribute to various open source projects, such as Linux Kernel, STG, AOSP, LLVM, LTP.
- Create and maintain a reliable, secure and foundation for the Android software ecosystem.

- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
