Google Cloud's BigLake aims to create a unified managed catalog for all of GCP, providing open-source compatibility and transparent first-party integration with GCP's data analytics tools. This role will shape the architecture and future of BigQuery's metadata management capabilities.
Requirements
- Experience with distributed computing, big data analytics, cloud computing, multi-tenant cloud, or AI.
- Experience with Data Analytics ecosystem (e.g., Iceberg, Spark, Flink, Pandas, Arrow).
- Experience using Java or Python in data analytics.
Responsibilities
- Develop features for open source Iceberg client libraries.
- Update use of such client libraries within Google.
- Design or influence features in the OSS community which are of interest to BigQuery.
- Work with BigQuery teams to help align design or feature semantics of BigQuery features which overlap with Iceberg/Parquet/Polaris.
