The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products, owning and advocating for underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure. They look across Google's products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers, and strengthen existing systems, impacting important technical decisions across the company.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in software development including C++.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience in compilers, runtimes, and toolchains.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • Experience with compilers, runtimes, system library and LLVM.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions.
  • Help modernize and improve low-level functionality that’s present on our data centers and engineering workstations such as runtime and system libraries.
  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.
  • Work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve.

Other

  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
  • Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
  • We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
