Pattern is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead a small team of engineers and collaborate with creative stakeholders to build tools that accelerate creative workflows, enhance experience design, and integrate AI into areas of opportunity. The goal is to empower creative teams to work faster, smarter, and at a higher level of impact by developing solutions for content analysis, AI-augmented content creation, workflow automation, and data-driven creative testing.

Requirements

  • Python, FastAPI, React
  • AWS
  • SQL
  • Significant experience (typically 7+ years) building and operating production software, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership capacity.
  • Strong technical skills across backend, frontend, and cloud systems.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead small, high-performing teams.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and sound judgment when integrating AI into workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and communicate architectural vision while contributing hands-on code.
  • Build systems with strong observability, testing, and maintainability.
  • Iterate quickly with direct feedback from creatives, ensuring tools deliver real value.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews for 1–2 senior engineers.
  • Own architectural decisions and ensure long-term maintainability and scalability.
  • Champion AI integration where it drives meaningful creative impact.
  • Develop tools that help creatives brainstorm, prototype, and produce assets faster while preserving their style and intent.
