Waymo is looking to build a high resolution map of the world to support safe autonomous driving
Requirements
- Experienced technical leader (or as a people manager)
- 7+ years of industry experience
- Proven track record of leading a team to solve difficult technical challenges
- Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache Beam
- Willingness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the system
- A passion for good software engineering
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of software engineers to help us scale our mapping infrastructure and to transform the mapping schema
- Evaluate and launch machine learning models that automatically generate map from raw data
- Work with onboard teams to evolve Waymo’s mapping format to make it more automation friendly
- Build backend infrastructure for storing and processing many forms of map data
- Scale our systems to support mapping the whole world
Other
- 7+ years of industry experience
- M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Willingness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the system
- Ability to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements
