Waymo's Mapping team needs to build a high-resolution map of the world to support safe autonomous driving, and this role will apply SLAM expertise to automate and streamline the 3D map building process in preparation for Waymo's rapid expansion.
Requirements
- Experience in SLAM, Localization, or a related robotics field
- Backend engineer with experience building server-side infrastructure and data processing
- Solid coding skills (C++ preferred)
- Experience in the AV industry
Responsibilities
- Apply SLAM expertise to automate and streamline the 3D map building process in preparation for the next phase of Waymo’s rapid expansion
- Help develop a long-term strategy for the evolution of Waymo’s 3D map as a key component to scaling Mapping capabilities
- Make high-impact contributions across Waymo’s Mapping stack including algorithm advances, infrastructure development, and tooling improvements
