Google's YouTube Watch team is looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to step into a critical Tech Lead role to own the technical goal and architecture for the high-performance backend systems that power every YouTube Watch Page, ensuring scalability for the next billion users and leading machine learning efforts to personalize the Watch experience.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with distributed system design, encompassing proper architecture across clients and various server layers, and with machine learning systems, data analysis, and using data to drive technical and product decisions.
- Experience as a Tech Lead for a large-scale, consumer-facing product.
Responsibilities
- Drive the evolution of our server architecture, ensuring it can scale for the next billion users translating ambitious product goals from our partner teams into scalable system and infrastructure capabilities, thereby improving their developer velocity.
- Uphold and elevate our engineering standards, guaranteeing our critical services meet exceptional performance and efficiency.
- Lead our machine learning efforts to personalize the Watch experience, from optimizing UI placement to developing new models that create a more intelligent and engaging journey for every viewer.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
- Own the technical goal and architecture for the high-performance backend systems that power every YouTube Watch Page.
