Woodward is looking for a Staff Test Engineer to design, support, and improve moderate to high complexity test systems and equipment, ensuring they meet testability and reliability criteria. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, supporting process improvements, and potentially building customer relationships.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years professional engineering experience or a combination of experience and advanced degree required
  • Advanced/expert engineering knowledge; complete understanding of component function and testing requirements.
  • Understands manufacturing processes, drawings and standards.
  • Fully understands a system and its components.
  • Competent knowledge of accuracy analyses, instrumentation calibration theory and tolerance stack-ups.
  • Develop and implement automated test control systems and software to validate aerospace hydraulic actuation and control systems.
  • Proficiency in NI LabVIEW, Veristand, Test Stand and associated operator interface/HMI software programming is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, supports, improves and tests moderate to high complexity test systems and equipment.
  • Ensures designs meet testability and reliability criteria.
  • Independently troubleshoots/analyzes component/system problems.
  • Participates in creation and evaluation of new product test requirements, test strategies, test procedures and the associated reports.
  • Perform lead design engineer role on complex test systems, including small group leadership and system specification ownership.
  • Defines, develops, tests and supports moderate to high complexity software applications including LabVIEW and other similar platforms.
  • Conducts and oversees unit testing, debugging, software/hardware integration.

Other

  • US – bachelor’s degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) or international equivalent in Technical/Science. Masters preferred for a Staff level.
  • Excellent problem solving & troubleshooting skills and analytical calculation skills required.
  • Advanced written/verbal communication skills and presentation skills; solid technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.).
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
