Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is looking for an integration engineer to develop and ensure the quality of HVAC sub system device and feature development for next-generation integrated thermal systems in electric vehicles.
Requirements
- Experience with electrical / electro-mechanical devices involving networked micro controllers and embedded software
- Proven debugging and diagnostic skills in electrical, mechanical, and software domains
- Strong comprehension of embedded software development languages (C/C++)
- Experience with Python is desired
- Experience with CAN / LIN / Ethernet & associated software tools desired
- Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)
- Knowledge of thermal physics principles and fluid dynamics
Responsibilities
- Lead HVAC sub system integration by developing, executing, and reporting on integration test plans for hardware components and firmware features to rapidly retire risk from new designs and provide feedback to development teams.
- Work cross-functionally among mechanical, electrical, software and system architecture aspects and collaborate with design and development engineers across the organization to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive system design, requirements, and interfaces.
- Define and test software requirements for HVAC components, system functions, and customer features
- Develop validation strategies for these features, working with validation teams to ensure test coverage.
- Develop prototype test setups to integrate new subsystems with simulated and actual vehicle components
- Dig into data and source code to identify and debug issues at the component and system levels, proposing and leading implementation of robust solutions
- Lead and manage integration of initial prototype systems including bring-up, debug, and engineering test of alpha- and beta-phase prototype vehicles

- Demonstrated ability to keep multiple projects moving forwards in parallel
- Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical fundamentals and ability to apply them to automotive concepts.
